IP phones are devices that are capable of making voice calls over the Internet and provide access to ArenimTel’s services.
The most popular types of IP phones can be classified by their main area of use as follows
Desktop / Office IP Phones
The most common type of general-purpose business phones used in offices, these provide basic business telephony functions, such as dialing, call transfer, and manager-assistant function. In ArenimTel’s system, this type is also referred to as a device connected to a “Traditional extension”.
Portable IP Phones
Offering portability within the office building, this type provides the same functionality as traditional business phones, but in a portable form factor. The device comes with a base station, which uses radio signals to communicate with the handset within a set radius. The handset typically works within distances of 10-15 meters. The radius can be increased by using signal boosters.
Conferencing Devices
Conference phones are developed specifically to be used for conferencing and come with a long-range spatial microphone and built-in speakers. Conference phones usually only support calls through speakers (they do not come with a handset), their built-in microphone can sample and transmit the voices of participants at a much higher quality than that of traditional office or call center phones.
Call Center / Customer Service IP Phones
These are a special type of devices used in call centers and customer service settings that provide agents the necessary advanced functionality (e.g. logging in and out). In ArenimTel’s system, this type is also referred to as a device connected to a call center extension. To make agents’ work easier, headsets are often used with these devices.
